Description: Logan Square neighborhood is centered on the public square that serves as its (and the community area's) namesake. The area is characterized by the prominent historical boulevards and large bungalow-style homes. The neighborhood is home to a diverse population comprising Latinos (primarily Mexican and Puerto Rican, with some Cuban) and Eastern Europeans, as well as a younger "progressive" crowd comprising primarily white, college-educated artists and professionals primarily from middle-class backgrounds who are attracted to the diversity and "bohemian" lifestyle.  With relatively inexpensive housing and rent available, this neighborhood is a favorite for students, artists, and working-class citizens.  (Wikepedia)

Food and Drink: El Cid, restaurant and bar; Cafe Con Leche, local coffee shop on Milwakee off the Blue line "logan square" stop; vintage Chicago tavern, Small Bar located on the corner of Albany and Wellington, features 60+ beers, local music, and local artists.

Grocery Stores: Jewel and Walgreens close by as well as other local food marts.

Emily's notes: We got off of the 'L' in the Diversy street area and got back on at California, proving how easily accessible it is. During our time in Logan Square we saw lots of green space - Logan Square and the Boulevard - and people in their 20's-30's. The apartments are affordable and nice. Past VISTAs have lived in this area and enjoy it.

Courtney's notes: The streets of Logan Square are busy, full of life and color.  Many latin-influenced shops and restaurants are found in the area, adding to the flavor of the streets. Though the area was not especially clean nor bars overly plentiiful, many young people reside in the area as well as around the square itself.  The apartments in the area are spacious as well as affordable (with a roommate) on the VISTA stipend.
